HNPAT Theme for 2015: Highlighting Local Prairies

Highlighted Local Prairies 150225

HNPAT’s theme for 2015 is to highlight local prairies. Toward that goal, one or more prairies or pocket prairies/prairie gardens will be highlighted at each meeting and in field trips throughout the year. As they are highlighted, these prairies will be marked on a google map:

The map contains 3 layers:

  • Natural Large Prairies in Greater Houston (Houston & 7 surrounding counties)
  • Pocket Prairies / Prairie Gardens in Greater Houston
  • Prairies for Day Trips from Houston

The viewer need only to check the box by the layer or layers to be viewed in order to pull up the prairies in that category. Then click on the desired prairie to see additional information.

At the February 25, 2015 meeting, Barbara Willy will talk about the prairies at Seabourne Creek Nature Park and at Brazos Bend State Park.

Keep checking this map, as we put in more information throughout this year.
