Google Maps, Yahoo Maps, and other online mapping programs do not provide accurate directions.
RSVP required – just email [email protected] .  Please send your cell phone number in case we need to get in touch with you on event day.
Many thanks to Ahlene Shong who collected cherokee sedge from a field in SW Houston last week.  Also thanks to Don Verser & Mary Ann Beauchemin who let us know about the many Cherokee sedge ready to be collected at Nature Discovery Center in Bellaire and allowed us to collect.
We are collecting seeds for the various projects discussed on the webpage at and in the downloadable document titled “Rebuild Houston’s Heartland” at the bottom of that page.
See you on the prairie Friday collecting seeds,

Come and help us collect prairie seeds, experience the prairie, help restoration efforts and also take some seeds home for your own garden.

Please send comments about your seed collecting trips to share with other prairie enthusiasts.  Be sure to post photos of seed collecting trips at the CPP website:  and send me a link.  Or if you prefer, send Lan ([email protected]) the photos and I will post them and credit the photos to you.

Information about this project, the individual teams, the seeds that we are collecting and when they would be ripe are online at

For seed envelopes, either email me or come by Katy Prairie Conservancy Office at 3015 Richmond Avenue, Suite 230 Houston, TX 77098-3114 or phone 713.523.6135.
