The title says it all, and Dr. Barron Rector brings nearly a half century of perspective.

Dr. Rector is an Associate Professor and Range Specialist at TAMU AgriLife Extension Service, Department of Range, Wildlife, and Fisheries Management. He began his career at the Texas Agricultural Experiment Station in 1973, and moved to the Texas Agricultural Extension Service in 1981. His career in Extension has been varied and extensive, including support for Texas County Extension Agents and local county programming in the areas of range management, plant identification, grazing management, prescribed burning, brush and weed control, range seeding, poisonous plants, invasive organisms, superintendent for 4-H and FFA grass contests, plant contests and range evaluation, and the training of Texas Master Naturalists and Master Gardener volunteers. His current research is on the interception, survey, and educational programs concerning the South American Cactoblastis cactorum or cactus moth, control of noxious pest plants Macartney rose, huisache, yaupon, and feverfew, and rangeland watershed management. A native Texan, Dr. Rector received his B.S. (1972) and M.S. (1976) from Angelo State University, and his Ph.D. from TAMU (1983) in Range Science.
