Prairie to Prairie: Native Plant Propagation for Restoration

February 22 @ 6:30 am 8:00 pm

Houston Audubon’s Natives Nursery straddles the line between a small retail operation and an in-house source for supplying our own restoration projects. Maintaining the “Real Deal” mission is paramount while we strive to ensure a diverse and continuous source of native grasses, forbs, shrubs, and trees for ourselves, partners, and the public. From seed collection, to their eventual homes in pollinator gardens or coastal prairies, there are many points of potential failure or success for each species. This will be an overview of the process to help individuals be more successful in their own propagation efforts, at home or within their organizations. Please feel free to submit questions ahead of time at [email protected]

Berri Moffett is a conservation specialist at Houston Audubon where she manages the Edith L. Moore and Entergy Coastal Natives Nurseries and three sanctuaries – Edith L. Moore, Winters Bayou, and Damuth. She spends all her days in the Gulf Coastal Plain watching the sky for birds or searching the ground for plants and fungi; her work seeks the symbiosis in space between.

Register at the link below to be admitted to the meeting. Meeting starts at 7:00; Join as early as 6:30pm and chat with prairie friends.
