Strange and unusual prairie denizens plus legends and lore of Texas Prairies!

Wednesday, October 25, 6:45pm-8:00pm, Red Cross Building, 2700 Southwest Freeway

Come hear about the more strange, unusual, and perhaps creepy animals of NPAT’s prairies as well as some spooky tales of Texas Prairie lore. The world of weird and surprising insects, spiders, and other worldly critters will be showcased. Amazing life cycles of prairie denizens will surprise and delight all. All photos in this presentation were taken from NPAT properties over many years of visits by the presenter. The Prairie ecosystem is made up of many highly connected and often symbiotic life cycles that are not well known or completely understood. Join HNPAT for a walk on the wild side with amazing wildlife!

Pat Merkord

Pat has been a leader of NPAT since she joined in 2006. She has served on the Board of Directors as Secretary and President for 3 terms She also was Executive Director of NPAT from 2012 to 2018. Pat has traveled extensively to all NPAT owned prairies and conservation easements and has years of photographs of animals and plants from these native prairies. Pat also has a business called Bluestem Environmental consultants specializing in wildlife management plans for 1-d-1 wildlife exemptions. She has a Master’s degree in Biology from Texas State University.
