A Prairie Bird-a-thon!
Help support the grassland birds of Texas with the first NPAT Bird-a-thon!
By supporting NPAT’s mission of prairie habitat preservation, you help save threatened bird populations. Just pledge a selected amount per number of birds to be counted on NPAT prairies during a two-week period, from May 30 through June 13.
These birds counts will be led by NPAT President Pat Merkord, Director Kirsti Harms and other volunteers at the following NPAT preserves: Kirchoff Family Farm, Maddin Prairie Preserve, Daphne Prairie, Mary Talbot Prairie, Talbot Brothers’ Prairie, and Lawther-Deer Park Prairie. These prairies are all preserved by NPAT and they provide habitat for our grassland birds.
In 2019 and 2018, the combined number of birds counted from these properties were 1,766 and 1,748 respectively. We hope to top these numbers this year. We will post the results of the surveys at the end of the two week count period. Help us make it count for birds!
Thank you for your pledge!
