During Ney’s time it was a native Texas landscape that served as a hay meadow. NPAT is looking to partner with Ney Museum and the Austin Parks and Recreation Department. Thank you, to everyone who has supported NPAT, the SANPAT Chapter, and the restoration efforts of the Kirchoff Family throughout 2017 and 2018! SANPAT sponsors this workday at Kirchoff Family Farm, at 1444 C.R. 210, Floresville, TX 78114 (coordinates are: North 28.973611 West -98.108333).
• Volunteers can arrive at 9am, join the Kirchoff siblings, Don, Scott, and Brenda, and leave when you’re ready. Enjoy the prairie! Bring your camera! Activities might include cutting invasive woody plants, treating stumps, bagging and/or collecting milkweed capsules, depending on the season. Early morning arrivals are treated to beautiful sunrises, fluttering butterflies, bird calls from bob white quail and others (especially in the spring)!
• Lunch and refreshments are provided by the Kirchoff Family in appreciation of helping them restore their prairie!
(SE area near Loop 130) 7:30 a.m. to noon.
• These AMAZING monthly access days offer opportunities to explore one of the last prairie remnants in the Austin area.
