Read more of this >>Texas was once 3/4 prairie and savanna. The Tallgrass Coastal Prairies reached many miles inland from the Gulf, and the Tallgrass Prairie extended from southern Canada through Fort Worth-Dallas south to San Antonio including Texas’ Blackland Prairies and Grand Prairie.

The fundraising campaign for the 12.45 acre Travis Country remnant Live Oak Savanna has been renewed. The remnant, located in the center of this West Austin neighborhood, is a prime outdoor teaching area and nature preserve. It is covered with native grasses, heritage oaks, wildlife habitat, and lies in the Barton Springs segment of the Edwards Aquifer Recharge Zone.
Many people pledged in the previous campaign, but more funds are needed to purchase this property outright and prevent future commercial or residential development. Please consider pledging your support today to conserve this great example of a remnant savanna in Central Texas for future generations!
