Burrowing Owls - The WHOLE Family!

Join Pat Merkord and Kirsti Harms on this annual survey for one or both days!
We’ll bird all day Saturday and until mid-afternoon on Sunday.
The survey involves driving on dirt roads and hiking at several points on the preserve.
Some of the hiking involves walking through tall grass and brush.
All levels of birders are welcome. Learn more about the birds of the West Texas prairies!
Maddin Prairie Preserve is comprised of 1,114 acres in Mitchell County near Colorado City.
Maddin Prairie Preserve is owned by the Native Prairies Association of Texas.


You may meet up with a pair of Northern Bobwhite Quail,
(Colinus virginianus)


 
Hear the chatter of the American Goldfinch,          or catch a glimpse of juvenile Great Horned Owls
(Carduelis tristis)                                                (Bubo virginianus) “hiding” in branches!
