Prairie Facts

Prairie Educators Workshop

Join us for a day of exploration and discovery, on the famous Lawther-Deer Park Prairie, as we share highly effective teaching resources and techniques for connecting your students to the coastal prairie ecosystem of southeast Texas!

The prairie is a great vehicle for teaching local conservation, ecology, history, geography, and even language arts. We will cover hands-on conservation activities, technology integration into your field studies, human impacts on ecosystems, endangered species, service and field trip opportunities, and more!

Date: Saturday, November 14, 2015 from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm

Location: Lawther-Deer Park Prairie in Deer Park, TX (1222 E Purdue Ln, Deer Park, TX 77536)

What to Bring: All participants should wear comfortable clothing suitable for hiking and the outdoors. A hat and long pants are highly recommended.

NPAT Annual Membership Meeting

When: Thursday, November 12 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Where: Luby’s Restaurant
2400 S MacGregor Way, Houston, TX 77021
(at Alameda near Hermann Park)

In conjunction with the Southern Plains and Prairies Conference, join NPAT leaders and other members for lunch and discussions on what the organization has been working on this year and plans for 2016. There will be an optional visit to a pocket prairie at Hermann Park nearby.
