JUNE 18-24, 2018 - “POLLINATOR WEEK”, (Monday-Sunday) NPAT will launch our special fundraising campaign Monday, June 18.  Watch for opportunities to support NPAT’s stewardship efforts!

has demonstrated the significance of conserving prairies and is focusing on educational opportunities in its own backyard, in Deer Park, TX, where one of its largest facilities is located!

$68K GRANT to NPAT’s LAWTHER DEER PARK PRAIRIE PRESERVE, Deer Park, TX

Shell awarded NPAT a $68K Grant to create an Director of Education position to serve at Deer Park Prairie, a most generous jesture which will benefit many local teachers and students!
 
NPAT selected Della Barbato to serve as Director of Education for Lawther Deer Park Prairie in April,  2018. Ms. Barbato continues to develop an educational program including student activities, training teachers to teach the prairie and facilitate a partnership with local school districts, businesses and other NGO’s in the Greater Houston Area.  She is also developing grassland biome curriculum to include demonstration trunks and activities to be taken to local schools for presentation in classes.

Della has previously served as Education Director for two environmental non-profits, is a Master Naturalist, and is a board trustee for the Citizens Environmental Coalition.  In 2014 Della was awarded a travel grant to Cambodia where she co-facilitated several zero waste and recycling workshops in a community-based ecotourism village. She is a former Montessori middle school science teacher and seed biology technician.
